The Colfax Fire Department has served the community for over 140 years and includes 35 volunteer firefighters. The Department responds to about 50 fire calls per year. The Fire Department volunteers have been trained in haz-mat response, vehicle rescue, confined space, and basic fire fighter 1. The Fire Department also provides protection to parts of four townships in Jasper County. The Fire Department also provides ambulance service to Colfax and the surrounding area. The Department responds to about 300 ambulance calls per year.
